though the project it was part of was never completed, the art assets were 'posthumously' released to the public in bulk

In the early stages of planning out potential premium modules, the CoDI team decided it would be fruitful to have in-team 'model-offs'. My meenlock model is a product of that. All five or six artists on the team hunkered down for a week to produce a piece of work. In this case, everyone was to produce their own take on the meenlock creature, going on a text description and the official Dungeons & Dragons 3rd edition art.

I was ambivalent towards the inherent redundancy of the idea, but having a solid, one-week deadline was undeniably a useful experience. I'll admit that I went a day over, but even today, I'm very pleased with what I was able to produce.

The meenlock is a small (2 feet tall) critter, and was to be used as a swarm-type enemy, meaning it would be encountered in groups. As such, an added challenge was to keep the polycount and texture size small. It was agreed to beforehand that we would use an existing animation set, specifically from Bioware's were-rat model, which would then be tweaked to fit later.

Here's the meenlock's texture. I unfortunately lost the original .psd file, so this is the final 256x256 image magnified to 2x resolution (pardon the ugly blurring and pixelation).
