Note: Several of the shots on this page show character head models. These are items from Neverwinter Nights 2, and are not my work. Due to the nature of these models, I felt it appropriate to use these character models for reference.

With Neverwinter Nights 2 newly released, custom armor and clothing seemed a fine opportunity to test the game as a modding platform. New armor is a smaller task than a new creature, yet involved enough to learn from. Perhaps more importantly, I felt new characterization options would convey a lot of utility for the young game community, both players and mod authors. The samurai armor pictured here was my first public release. Granted, samurai armor is of questionable value in a standard fantasy setting, but frankly, I had a hankering to work on some Feudal Japan stuff.

It consists of five pieces: the body, the feet (socks & sandals), helmet, and two shoulder pieces. A female version was created and released as well, a couple shots of which can be seen on the public release page. Scroll down to the bottom of this page to see the textures.

Hats Hats Hats

As you can see, I created a number of helmets, hats, and other headwear, some general use and some created for specific projects. Most of these have full compatibility across all of NWN2's race and sex variations, meaning 12 variations were manually produced per helmet.

For public release, the color maps for virtually everything on this page were largely stripped of their deep color saturation, and brightened significantly. This was to comply with NWN2's tinting system, which allows end-users to colorize armor and clothing. Click here for a quick example.

Straitjacket

Here is another special-case item created for a specific project, the straitjacket. It technically exists as a standard armor model (it uses standard character animations, and can be equipped and unequipped), but obviously is not meant to function as a typical suit of armor. The character's hand models must be set to 'null' (invisible), and no weapons or items can be equipped in the hands, as they would appear to float in space.

Click the images below for more detailed images. Due to the limited purpose of the straitjacket, it was only created for the human male model.

Here are the textures for the samurai armor. Each has a color (diffuse) map, a normal map, a gloss map, and a tint map. Click for higher resolution.
